The main objective of the festival is for those participating to enjoy themselves. Not just those attending from the public, but also those who perform and support the event. We have been lucky over the last 3 years of the Festival to have experienced fine sunny weather, The Festival plans to run independent of weather restrictions to take advantage of our hopefully, sunny warm July climate. Outdoor stages will be used in Mortimer Street, Hampton Bay park and pub gardens in Herne Bay with street activities and performances throughout the weekend. Attendees can sit in the sun and enjoy the activities. Many Festivals are situated inland, in fields within fenced arenas or just around towns in various pubs and locations where walks and leisure times are restricted to urban settings. Herne Bay Folk Festival is somewhat unique as it can boast an open-air arena but also the “Around Town” part on the Saturday is next to the sea. Those camping at Hampton Bay Park are encouraged to take a sea walk in to Herne Bay. A map showing this route which follows the coast from Hampton Bay to the Clock Tower is included in the programme.
