A display of posters and images in The Heritage Centre featuring HERNE BAY’S CENTENARY CELEBRATION 1833-1933. These will comprise copies of completely original material not seen in public since its first production in
There will be use of Interactive Display and Information touch screen point in the Centre enabling visitors to search images of local history interest taken from our own extensive archives and this will include facility to take digital copies of any item viewed
There will be two guided walks during the day along Herne Bay seafront from the clocktower to the pier led by knowledgeable local historians dressed in traditional costume.Free handouts of more detailed history will be available to all visitors.
Volunteers will be on hand all day to answer any questions relating to Herne Bay local history including local families houses etc.
Herne Bay Cartoon Festival Live Cartooning returns for the sixth year. This year’s event takes place on the Pier. Come and watch the professional cartoonists and caricaturists at work.

Meet Phil Hadland, fossil expert to learn more about the fossils found at Herne Bay and Hunt for sharks’ teeth and other interesting things on the shoreline.
Wear suitable clothing for the weather including wellington boots or beach shoes.
Bring something to take your finds home in.
Children must be accompanied.
Bring your fossils along to The Seaside Museum, Herne Bay for identification. Phil Hadland, fossil expert, will be available to answer questions about the fossils of prehistoric monsters that lived in Herne Bay 56 million years ago.
Come to The Seaside Museum to take part in a dramatic re-telling of a true seaside rescue that happened in Herne Bay in 1845.
Herne Bays biggest music event of the year.
Just over a week to go and here is the running order for the festival main stage on Saturday 25th August. No excuse to not be there, there’s something for everyone!
Show starts at 12:00pm at the Clocktower Plaza and the programme is as follows –

18:00pm – Winners of Herne Bay Rocks Acoustic Catagory
18:35pm – Winners of Herne Bay Rocks Band Catagory
19:45pm – Headline Band ‘Loaded’ (as featured on Eastenders a couple of times) belting out all of your favourite music festival anthems!
Emmanuele Okine (Ghanain juggler/acrobat) will be performing between the bands
Paul Incredible (multi talented circus performer) will be performing from 12:30pm until 15:30pm
Free Photo Booth will be available from 13:00pm until 18:00pm
