Discovering Herne Bay’s History @ The Heritage Centre

A display of posters and images in The Heritage Centre featuring HERNE BAY’S CENTENARY CELEBRATION 1833-1933. These will comprise copies of completely original material not seen in public since its first production in

There will be use of Interactive Display and Information touch screen point in the Centre enabling visitors to search images of local history interest taken from our own extensive archives and this will include facility to take digital copies of any item viewed

There will be two guided walks during the day along Herne Bay seafront from the clocktower to the pier led by knowledgeable local historians dressed in traditional costume.Free handouts of more detailed history will be available to all visitors.

Volunteers will be on hand all day to answer any questions relating to Herne Bay local history including local families houses etc.

This year, the cartoon festival is delighted to host two workshops by the very fabulous caricaturist, Roger Todd. On Sat Aug 4th @ 1.30pm @ Beach Creative, Roger will take us through the history of sculpted caricatures from Dantan and Daumier in the 1840s to France’s Les Guignols de l’Info, Russia’s Kukly, and South Africa’s online spoof show.
